Seal one: The owner of this red round Seal is not clear yet. Dawson (p. 12) is speculating if this seal may belong to Shakabpa's younger brother, to a member of the Trade Mission or to the Trekhang family. Inside the outer rim it has a double vajra shaped lined rim with a double vajra symbol in it's center. At top left (10 o'clock) the seal has a sun symbol and at top right (2 o'clock) it has a moon symbol. the seal has Dawson writes (p.12) : "The seal was provided by Shakabpa's grandson who apparently was unsure of the exact position of Trekhang. His suggestions were incorrect. The Trekhang family was one of the aristocratic families who traditionally provided a member to train as a monk official for the government service. This seal belonged to Trekhang who served as a Monk Shapé during the 1930s. He opposed the policies of the Reting Regent who forced him to resign in 1939. Trekhang was an uncle of Tsipön Shakabpa." Seal2: The small black square seal has one linde rim inside the outer rim with one dBu can column flanked by ornamental lines. Seal3: Round black seal with a pearly lined rim (dot cannot be counted since some cannot be clearly seen), at top and bottom with three dots next to each other inside the outer rim. The center has one line of dBu can script interrupted surrounded by ornamental lines. |
